End of year 2025

A Year of Challenges and Perseverance

2025 brought both challenges and meaningful progress to our work in Haiti. While reduced funding required us to pause our hot meal program, we remained committed to fighting hunger through our monthly dry food distribution program, providing rice and beans to families in need. This year we delivered over $19,000 in direct food aid to the community.

It was with great joy that we were finally able to return to Haiti. Michael and I brought our whole family and we worked side by side with members of the community. There’s something powerful about working together, sharing meals, and building relationships face to face. It reminded us why we started this work twenty years ago.  It’s always been about the people and the connections. It was also wonderful to see Gloria and Gomex when we visited in August. Gloria, now 23, has a small business selling construction equipment and introduced us to her toddler, Aliyah.

Building for Better Health

Sanitation remains a critical need in Cap Haitian. This year we completed 3 community toilets; 2 in January and 1 in August.  These modest but essential structures provide basic sanitation in an area where frequent cholera outbreaks make clean facilities a matter of life and death. After several years, focusing on building toilets, we cleaned out 5 of the original to keep them in working order. There are more cleanings needed in 2026, each toilet project is a small but important step toward better public health.  We have over 15 people on the waiting list for a toilet.  When a site is selected, the caretaker gets access to one of the stalls for their family and is responsible for keeping the other stall clean for neighbors.  Each costs about $5,000. If we could build more we would.

Our Goals for 2026

We continue with our modest but meaningful goals:

  • Continue to feed people
  • Build more toilets
  • Send children to school
  • Support the medical clinic for expectant and new mothers

These goals remain unchanged because the needs remain unchanged. We rely entirely on the donations of friends and local churches, which continue to provide the backbone of funding that makes our work possible.

Thank You

We are grateful for your partnership in this mission. Because of you, we’ve been able to continue making a difference in the lives of the poor in Haiti, even during years when travel was impossible. Your generosity enables us to provide food, build infrastructure, educate children, and support families.

We pray that our small mission will continue to make a difference in the lives of the poor in Haiti in 2026. If you can help us this coming year, please do!
